West End, Grand Bahama Island - On Thursday, January 31st The Bahamas Weekly News Team was in attendance at Ginn sur  Mer for a media tour. Ginn Resorts intention was to provide a tour of the site being developed; show and discuss the progress being made; and allow the media to meet and hear from John Davies, Sr. VP, Ginn Resorts, and Bobby Ginn, Ginn Resorts Founder;  and also answer any questions the media might have pertaining to the largest building project ever undertaken in The Bahamas. Ginn sur Mer will feature 4,400 condo and hotel units centred on a 20-storey tower, 870 single family residential homes, two signature golf courses and club houses, two megayacht marinas, Monte Carlo-style casino, swimming pools and water park facilities, beach club, salon and spa, restaurants and shops, among other amenities.

Listen as Mr. Bobby Ginn speaks concisely and openly on the achievements, challenges, timelines, and upcoming developments to be seen this year and into the future.

Highlights of the speech are:

- Approximately $150 million has been invested so far toward the $3.7 billion project for the West End of Grand Bahama Island.

- Over the past 2 years, 70% of the 2000 acre site has been cleared, elevated and prepared in order to put in a proper infrastructure.

- Mr. Ginn feels that the project is ahead of schedule and should be operational in 5 years.

- Environmentally they have enhanced the area and are following all appropriate guidelines.

- The golf courses are being worked on and will be operational within  2 years

- The first vertical construction is set to take place later this  year

- Over 200 lots have been sold to date

- Approximately 230 Bahamians are presently employed, and during the construction phase that will increase to approximately 3700 and more than 4,000 new permanent jobs will be created.
