Freeport, Grand Bahama Island – Saturday February 19th,
2012 blues music lovers from east to west of Grand Bahama converged en mass to
Rooster’s Sports Bar and Entertainment Center to ingest copious quantities of
soulful live blues music performed by UK top award winning blues artists, ‘The
Producers,’ direct from Bournemouth, England.
The enthusiastic crowd just couldn’t get enough of Harry
Skinner’s whaling guitar solos and soulful
Clapton-esque intense lead vocals;
not to mention Ray Drury’s hot keyboard riffs and the band’s overall feel.
The crowd just kept asking for more, the night
was described by many as a, ‘
Must do again.’

The Bahamas Weekly.com is pleased to present photographic
snippets of the awesome show that left us all crying for more. If/when The
Producers return again, those who missed the show are definitely advised to
take advantage of the opportunity next time. The event was done in collaboration
between Rooster’s and the Grand Bahama Performing Arts Society.

The Producer’s also conducted a free music workshop for
young up and coming musicians on February 18th, 2012 –
TheBahamasWeekly.com will also be featuring coverage of that event.
Renowned ‘till the mid-90’s as one
of Britain’s best blues bands, the band has reformed with two original members
(Harry Skinner, vocals/guitar, and Dave Saunders on bass) and two new members
(Ray Drury on keyboards and Biff Smith on drums) after a seven-year break.
Since reforming they've been receiving rave reviews, and are regaining the
loyal following which made them so popular previously. New material is
continually being written and incorporated into their sets, which contains many
of their previously recorded tracks.

The
band says this about their trip to The Bahamas, "
The
opportunity to visit the Bahamas was a dream come true. The band has travelled
all over the world but chances to visit the Carribean are rare and
particularly precious given that the climate in the UK is pretty miserable this
time of year."
"We loved Grand Bahama and found the
people unfailingly cheerful and helpful. It was a particular pleasure to
work with some of the island children / young adults in the music workshop. We
were impressed with the facilities offered at the music school and the
enthusiasm and liveliness of the participants. In addition to this we found the
facilities at Roosters to be nothing
short of 'world -class'. We are very grateful to the Grand Bahamas Performing
Arts society for their support and hope that we have assisted their worthwhile
cause. It would be great to visit again in the future."
The
band says their influences are early Fleetwood Mac, Bluesbreakers,
Rolling Stones, Small Faces et al, and American greats like Howlin Wolf,
Jimmy Reed, Muddy Waters, BB King and others.
