Freeport, Grand Bahama Island - Flying Fish Modern Seafood just completed their first educational series which was deemed a huge success by those in attendance.
The Educational Sundays series kicked off on January 13 with a cooking demonstration
and interactive cooking class on classic food combinations such as
tomato & basil, fennel & orange, beef & blue cheese, and coffee
& chocolate. Chef Tim outlined flavor combinations and how a diner
perceives them, following it up with hands-on examples of how to create
quick and easy meals from these classic combinations.
While diners were
watching the demonstration in the dining room, the kitchen team was
preparing the very same dish for presentation to the guests. The session
allowed one-on-one time with Chef Tim for questions and discussion on
topics of interest relating to cooking and food combinations. For each
course served, there were suggested wine pairings available to further
enhance the diners’ palates and experience.

The next class was a
wine tasting and food pairing tutorial. Sommelier Rebecca helped share
some tips on how to taste a wine, what to look for and how to pair wines
with food. Through an interactive tasting of 4 wines, the participants
gained an understanding of how some flavors work together. A 3-course
meal was served with wine paired to provide successful interaction of
flavors. A completely interactive format allowed diners to talk and ask
questions about how to taste and why some flavors are classic
combinations and some flavors are personal preferences.
Here's some of the feedback from those who attended:
