Grand Bahama Island - On the breezy but sunny Saturday afternoon of March 28th ‘Fashion on the Lawn’ took place at the Boat House, an exclusive home owned by Duane and Jill Crithfield at the Grand Bahama Yacht Club. Never before has the island seen a fashion show of this caliber, length and variety. The Boat House served as an idyllic setting for the fashion show which featured local models, the Miss Grand Bahama 2009 contestants, and young and older new faces to the runway. Any photographer would have loved the backdrop of the beautiful Boat House with the runway leading out from it into the garden, all set on the edge of the Port Lucaya Marina.
Over 130 guests were pampered from 3-5 pm as they sipped mimosas and nibbled on fine chocolates, all while everyone enjoying
an afternoon of fun, friends and fashion featuring designs from Seventeen Shop, Animale, Bandolera, Traffic, UNEXSO, Clothesline, Bahama Brides and accessories from After Seven and Colombian Emeralds.
The "piece of resistance"
of the show was the grand finale when Miss Grand Bahama 2008, Kerel Pinder, dressed in a wedding dress from Bahama Brides came gliding up to the dock in the Crithfield's boat and walked up to the stage like a princess bride.
The event raised over $5,000 and 100% of the proceeds will go to the Harvest Foundation, of which Jill Crithfield is the founder. The Harvest Foundation is a non-profit organization moved by the love and compassion of Jesus Christ to see the hungry fed, the hurting comforted, the uneducated taught and the poor profit.
It looks to break the cycle of poverty of both body and soul. Harvest Foundation is presently assisting the Lewis Yard area with a community outreach program there with the help of many volunteers they facilitate a community centre where they are teaching such activities as
sewing, computer skills, carpentry, parenting skills and cooking.
The Foundation wishes to thanks all those that made this event a success. The lovely models:
