Davies Associates Ltd, (DAL), a Freeport based Project
Management consultancy, recently commissioned a
study into the economic development of Grand Bahama Island with the
objective of replacing unproductive criticism of the general climate of
inactivity with new initiatives.
DAL has already proposed the development of
Freeport’s Grand Bahama International Airport to establish a regional hub and
has now released its conclusion that the Hawksbill Creek Agreement (HCA) must
be reformed as a precursor to further economic development...

In June 2015 Davies Associates Ltd., (DAL) the
Freeport based development advisory and project Management Company announced
that it had commissioned a study into the economic development of Grand Bahama
Island (GBI).
Andrew Davies, president of DAL said:
“Our investment in the study coincided with the government’s
investigation of the Hawksbill Creek Agreement (HCA) and in May we presented
some preliminary findings to the committee. We were encouraged by the positive
approach taken by the committee in trying to find a way to stimulate the GBI
economy...

Freeport company invests in plan for Grand Bahama economy -

In 2014 Davies Associates Ltd., (DAL) became concerned about the lack of
investment in Grand Bahama Island and the general atmosphere of economic decline.
Andrew
Davies, president of DAL said, “Our concern was heightened when
potential investors began to express to us the view that GBI had become a
dilapidated ‘failed project’ in which even those closest to the pulse
of the island, the beneficiaries of the Hawksbill Creek Agreement (HCA),
no longer invested...”

Davies Associates: Is this the end for Freeport? -

It is hard to conceive of anyone who is content with the
development of Freeport over recent years. The grand economic
development project, begun in 1955 with the Hawksbill Creek Agreement
(HCA), has stalled and no-one accepts responsibility for restarting the
engine.
Government recognises the problem and, earlier this year,
convened a committee to advise on what, if anything, should be done to
modify the HCA. The findings of the committee have not been published
and the entire process is now mired in a legal challenge on the basis
the government declined to release an earlier report it commissioned
from management consultants McKinsey...
