EY Donates to Bahamas Hurricane Dorian Relief Efforts

On Sept. 13, EY announced a $200,000 donation to Hurricane Dorian relief
efforts in the Bahamas.
Leadership of the EY region of the Bahamas,
Bermuda, British Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands will donate $100,000,
with EY Americas matching the donation, to The Bahamas National
Emergency Management Authority (NEMA).
“This is an
extraordinarily difficult time for the Bahamas and,by extension,all of
the countries that make up a part of this region, so it is imperative
that we come together as one to help the Bahamas and its people begin to
rebuild,” said Dan Scott, Regional Managing Partner with EY..

The Department of Rehabilitative Welfare
Services announced Saturday, September 14, 2019 that the displaced
persons registration desk at Odyssey Aviation is now closed.
registration desk was spearheaded by a collective group of private
citizens, partners and NGOs in collaboration with the Department of
Social Services. It was staffed by more than 50 trained volunteers
working on shifts, registered approximately 6,854 people arriving to New
Providence by air from Abaco and Grand Bahama between September 5 -13,

A State Recognized Funeral was held for the Hon. Mr. Justice
(Retired) Emmanuel E. Osadebay at St. Agnes Anglican Church, Baillou
Hill Road, on Friday, September 13, 2019. Interment was at St. Agnes
"Justice of Appeal Osadebay had
the distinction of serving The Bahamas at three different levels of the
Judiciary; as the Stipendiary and Circuit Magistrate, a Justice of the
Supreme Court and a Justice of Appeal. He also practiced at the private
Bar with distinction for several years after leaving the Magistracy pro
to his appointment to the Supreme Court Bench in February, 1994."

Trinidad & Tobago Defence and Task Force Lend a Hand to Restore Grand Bahama

Some of the 100-member Defence & Task Force from Trinidad &
Tobago arrived in Grand Bahama on Monday morning, ready to work along
with local Defence Force officers in helping to restore Grand Bahama,
following the passing of Hurricane Dorian. The team spent some time upon
arrival meeting with leaders of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force,
getting updated on the state of the island and obtaining cues on what
role they would play in the restoration process.

On Wednesday morning World Central Kitchen, owned by chef and
philanthropist Jose Andres, arrived in Freeport Harbor, with thousands
of already prepared meals, as well as tons of dry goods and other relief
supplies. Chef Andres has joined the many international volunteers who
have opened up their hearts and storehouses to the people of Grand
Bahama in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian.
