Gratitude For My Bahamian Homeland - Jul 30, 2015 - 11:53:28 AM
I’m not as sentimental as I should be. I take the fact that I live in
one of the most beautiful countries for granted, I often assume that I
will always have the peace of the ocean crashing against the shore and
the annoyance that comes with seagulls begging for food.
But in
moments when I remember just how lucky I am, I smile. When I think about
the reefs surrounding the white beaches of Peterson’s Cay, The wild
parrots that fly freely throughout the Abaconian islands or the iguanas
that demand the attention of the wildlife surrounding them. I realize,
that this place that I call home, is my peace.

Parallax rides a "Bahama Blue" tide to World Oceans Day - Apr 24, 2015 - 3:23:25 PM
VANCOUVER, Canada - World Oceans
Day has taken on new meaning to the production team at Parallax Film
Productions. After spending months
filming their latest project called
Bahama Blue, a bunker oil spill occurred in
their hometown Vancouver, just as they were delivering the final episodes.
“We just have a new appreciation for how
catastrophic an event like this can be.
We know how vulnerable many species are to manmade pollution,” says
Director and Executive Producer Ian Herring,
“It’s a shame that we only truly appreciate wildlife when it’s threatened or
gone.”
The team chose a different theme for their
series, though, to capture the beauty and diversity of wildlife in the Bahamas.

The Bahamas Government Year In Review 2014 - Jan 9, 2015 - 4:50:04 PM
Much of
the Bahamas news in 2014 was driven by social media with hyped up and
emotive presentation. On the governance front, there were a myriad of
national issues that the Bahamas government tackled both legislatively
and executively. Described by the government as doing the “heavy
lifting,” Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Perry G. Christie characterized
the 2014 legislative agenda as arguably the most “reform driven” in
recent history. This sentiment was also expressed by the Minister for
National Security and leader of government business in the House, the
Hon. Bernard J. Nottage. As the country continued to emerge from the
protracted global recession and faced the inevitability of change, some
very important and transformative decisions were made to facilitate the
country’s transition through these changes that are a necessary part of
growth and national development. Some decisions of governance, though
necessary, were tough and unpopular but governance is not a popularity
contest...
