Prime Minister on false voice note circulating on social media - Mar 28, 2020 - 5:38:24 PM

The Office of the Prime Minister is aware of a voice note circulating on social media that contains false claims that the Prime Minister intends to announce a country-wide 30-day shutdown on Monday.

These claims are completely false and should be ignored.

This voice note could lead to panic and a run on stores that can harm efforts to contain the COVID-19 virus...

Distribution of lunch vouchers for students enrolled in the national school feeding programme - Mar 28, 2020 - 4:45:23 PM

The Ministry of Education advises all parents and guardians who did not collect lunch vouchers from the schools on Wednesday 25 March, that they should now collect them on either Monday 30 or Tuesday 31 March from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm in the parking lot at the rear of the Ministry of Education building on University Drive.

In Grand Bahama, parents and guardians are advised that distribution of vouchers will continue at the respective schools by security officers on Monday 30 and Tuesday 31 March from 9am to 3:00pm...

COVID-19 Bahamas border closure: Nationals of The Bahamas seeking to return to their countries - Mar 27, 2020 - 9:30:04 PM

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs refers to the press release of the Nassau Airport Development Company (NAD), regarding the Government’s decision to close the borders of The Bahamas, to all incoming passengers, effective 27 March.  Planes can come empty to pick up passengers and leave.

It is realized that this is likely to result in the dislocation of Bahamian nationals and residents who are abroad and seeking to return home...

Prime Minister the Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis said Bahamians must be prepared to fight an economic war once the war on COVID-19 is behind the nation.

To date, there are 10 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in The Bahamas – nine confirmed in New Providence and one confirmed in Grand Bahama.

The Prime Minister was speaking today during a brief visit to the Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) at the Ministry of Health to personally thank health professionals working to coordinate the response to COVID-19 in The Bahamas...

COVID-19 Travel Restrictions: Bahamian nationals abroad in distress or seeking to return to The Bahamas - Mar 27, 2020 - 8:29:18 PM

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to advise the general public that if you have family members abroad who are Bahamian nationals in distress or seeking to return to The Bahamas, you should make direct contact with the nearest Bahamas Embassy, High Commission, Consulate General or Honorary Consulate.

The Ministry of Health confirms COVID-19 cases at ten (update #17) - Mar 27, 2020 - 7:21:03 PM

The Ministry of Health has confirmed one new case of the COVID-19 coronavirus in New Providence. This brings the total number of confirmed cases to ten.

This latest case is a 52 year old female with a history of travel to the United States, but no links to the previous cases. The confirmed case remains stable and at home in isolation.

Health officials continue to follow the condition of the other nine (9) COVID-19 positive cases. None of the cases are in hospital, and all are in stable condition...
