140 Haitian Nationals were taken into custody over the weekend - May 4, 2022 - 3:57:44 PM
On Sunday, 1st May 2022, at approximately 10:15 am, a group of
seventy-eight (78) Haitian nationals were turned over to the Enforcement
Unit, New Providence by officers of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force
(RBDF). Among this group were sixty-one (61) males, ten (10) females,
and seven (7) minors.
The group of migrant was found onboard a
sailing vessel and intercepted by the HMBS Madeira in waters near South
Beach, New Providence...

Minister of State for Social Services and Urban Development the Hon.
Lisa Rahming held a press conference today (May 3) to launch the
ministry's Home Repairs initiative at the head office of the Urban
Renewal Commission.
The initiative was to announce grants and
contractors for the repair of homes that are in urgent need of
restoration. On hand at the press conference were contractors who will
provide support for this project...

he International Labour Organisation (ILO) in
collaboration with the National Tripartite Council (NTC) recently
convened an intensive induction Results-Based Management (RBM) and
Work-Planning Exercise.
Results
Based Management applies to all stages of the ILO’s programming cycle,
including programme planning, implementation, reporting and evaluation.
The ILO is a United Nations agency whose mandate is to advance social
and economic justice through setting international labour standards....

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) is leading by example
when it comes to preparation in advance of the 2022 Atlantic Hurricane
Season which is expected to be an above-average season with 19 named
storms, 9 expected to become hurricanes and 4 forecasted to become major
hurricanes.
Those preparations include the completion of a
Comprehensive Disaster Management Audit that was conducted by CDEMA (the

PACE Bahamas (Providing Access to Continued Education for Teenage
Mothers) has been renamed the Andrea E. Archer Institute, after its
founder. The institute was created to assist pregnant adolescents who
were unable to continue their education in the mainstream school system.
It provides access to continued education while providing essential
support to the young women. An official ceremony was held, April 29,
2022 on the grounds of the institute...

Former Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Hubert Ingraham on Friday presented a
copy of his book, 'I Say What I Mean and I Mean What I Say,' to
Minister for Grand Bahama the Hon. Ginger Moxey during a courtesy call.
Mr. Ingraham encouraged Minister Moxey in her position and said he was
going to speak to several high school students to encourage them to stay
