Grand Bahama Traffic Accident Involving Pedestrian - Found Firearm & Ammunition - Possession of Unlicensed Firearm/Ammunition

“TRAFFIC ACCIDENT INVOLVING PEDESTRIAN”

Freeport, Bahamas - Police are investigating a traffic accident that has left a 59 year old male pedestrian with injuries.

Reports are shortly after 8:00pm on Friday 24th January 2014, police were called to a traffic accident at West Atlantic Drive involving a white Chevy Venture van and a pedestrian. The van was driven by a male who was travelling north along West Atlantic Drive when he struck a male pedestrian who was walking in an easterly direction across West Atlantic Drive.

The pedestrian was transported to the Rand Memorial Hospital via ambulance where he is listed in serious condition.

Police are investigating and are appealing to the general public to drive with care and attention while on our streets and to be vigilant particularly to our pedestrians. Police are also appealing to pedestrians to adhere to the laws of our streets.

“FOUND FIREARM & AMMUNITION – GRAND BAHAMA”

On Friday 24th January 2014 shortly after 1:00pm, officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit acting on information went to a bushy area of Limewood Lane and Carissa Street and discover a brown bag containing a chrome .22 revolver with (5) five .22 rounds of ammunitions. The firearm and ammunition are in police custody.

“POSSESSION OF UNLICENSED FIREARM/AMMUNITION- GB”

On Friday 24th January 2014 around 9:30pm, officers while on patrol observed a champagne Buick Sabre travelling south on Frobisher Drive with two male occupants. The vehicle was stopped and officers conducted a search of the occupants and retrieved from the right waist of the driver a black Glock 40 pistol with (1) magazine containing (1) live .40 round of ammunition. The driver a 39 year old male of Kings Road and the passenger a 30 year old male of Fair Court, both of Grand Bahama were arrested and taken into police custody. Police are investigating this matter
