Grand Bahama police seize large haul of firearms & ammunition

Freeport, Bahamas - Excellent work by officers of Grand Bahama resulted in the discovery of a number of firearms and ammunition in the Freeport area.

Reports are that on Saturday 6th February 2016 shortly before 11:00am, officers while on mobile patrol in the Freeport area, observed a male who upon seeing the officers fled the area leaving his vehicle. He was later captured and returned to his vehicle where an illegal firearm was discovered.

Further investigation led police to a residence in the Freeport area, where a search warrant was executed and a number of firearms and ammunition were discovered. Three males, all resident of Freeport, and are assisting police with their investigation into this matter.

Grand Bahama police are reporting that the firearms and ammunition seized were (9) pistols, (31) loaded magazines with approximately 1100 live rounds of ammunition, (2) ballistic face masks and a bullet proof vest.

Investigation into this matter is ongoing.
