Alleged drowning in Grand Bahama near Petersen Cay

Freeport, Grand Bahama - Reports are that on Monday 27th May 2019, shortly after 11:00am, an American male along with family members onboard a vessel, were out snorkeling in waters near Peterson Cay, when the victim reportedly began having difficulties. He was assisted by family and crew members back into the vessel and transported to Grand Bahama where he was seen by EMS personnel and later pronounced dead by doctor at the Rand Memorial Hospital. Foul play is not suspected at this time, an autopsy will be performed to establish the exact cause of death.

Investigation will continue into this matter.

CRIME PREVENTION TIP – TAKE A STAND AGAINST ILLEGAL FIREARMS BY COOPERATING WITH THE POLICE IN PROVIDING INFORMATION REGARDING THE WHEREABOUTS OF ANY ILLEGAL FIREARM.
