On Saturday June 17, fathers teamed up with their children to face off in the Daddy & Me Grill Off at Solomon’s Super Center on Old Trail Road. The four-hour event quickly heated up with contestants preparing four categories of meat. Judges were placed in a hidden area to narrow down the top winners based on flavor, presentation and tenderness/texture of the finished product.

Solomon’s Brand Manager Monalisa Sweeting planned the event to honor fathers in the community for the important role they play in the lives of their children.  “We wanted to host a fun event where our fathers could set up their own grills and showoff their cooking skills all while spending time with their kids...

AML Urges Grand Bahama Shoppers to Go Plastic Free and Reduce Environmental Impact Through BYOB Initiative - May 31, 2017 - 8:41:27 PM

At the 2nd Annual Bring Your Own Bag (BYOB) event in recognition of Earth Day, AML Foods Ltd. encouraged Saturday shoppers at their Grand Bahama stores to swap plastic bags for environmentally friendly, reusable shopping bags.

The company teamed up with the Keep Grand Bahama Clean Committee to give out 10,000 eco-friendly bags to customers at Solomon’s Queen’s Highway and Solomon’s Lucaya in an effort to reduce the negative impact of plastic waste on our natural environment.

The BYOB initiative started in New Providence and Grand Bahama last April. A total of 20,000 free reusable bags were given out over the course of one year...

At the 2nd annual Solomon’s Fresh Market Fun Walk & Health Fair, vendors showcased products and services geared towards living a healthier lifestyle at the store’s Old Fort Bay location. The event kicked off with a 3-mile fun walk with more than 100 persons taking to the streets, walking from the store’s parking lot to Lyford Cay and back. Proceeds from the walk will be donated to the Cancer Society of The Bahamas to assist with the group’s ongoing projects.

That same day more than 250 shoppers took part in a health fair featuring booths with organic teas, massage therapy, nutritious meal preparation tips, fitness trainers as well as information from non-profit support groups. Blood pressure checks, weigh-ins and glucose screenings were also provided by Doctors Hospital and the Bahamas Medical Center...

Solomon’s Fresh Market teamed up with Young’s Fine Wine to host an evening of food, wine and networking in support of Autism Awareness Month.

 The Charity sampling event at the Old Fort Bay location, raised funds to assist R.E.A.C.H. Bahamas in its efforts to help children and families affected by autism. Cases of autism continue to increase in The Bahamas and according to the United States Centers for Disease Control And Prevention, an estimated 1 in 68 children are on the autism spectrum.

Solomon's and Cost Right recently teamed up with breast cancer survivor and advocate Mrs. Linda Malcolm, launching Change For Change in Grand Bahama to provide financial support to three charities on the island.

The in-store initiative encouraged patrons of Solomon’s and CostRight, Freeport to donate spare change to assist Sister Sister Breast Cancer Support Group, the Cancer Association of Grand Bahama and the Cancer Society of The Bahamas.  Store managers strategically placed donation boxes in the retail outlets with the hope that customers would contribute to help their fellow Grand Bahamians...

AML Acquires 5-Acre Property For $3M to Develop New Solomon’s Branded Store on Yamacraw Hill Rd - Aug 9, 2016 - 7:07:51 AM

Nassau, Bahamas - AML Foods Limited, one of the country’s largest grocers, today announced it has acquired a 5-acre tract of land on Yamacraw Hill Road for $3 million from Luxury Homes Bahamas Limited .  The property will be developed into a new 38,000 square-foot Solomon’s branded store in Eastern New Providence.  The site will also include a location for AML’s Carl’s Jr. brand.

With this purchase, AML Foods will no longer be partaking in the previously announced joint venture to develop the shopping center with Luxury Homes Bahamas Limited, but will serve as the anchor store adjacent to the center being developed by the company...

Nassau, Bahamas — AML Foods Ltd. officials say the first phase of its Bring Your Own Bag (BYOB) initiative could reduce local plastic bag use by two million bags in one year. After successfully distributing 10,000 free reusable shopping bags on Earth Day, the company is now setting its sights on next year’s goals.
