The Cabinet Office is pleased to announce that in honour of the March To Majority Rule, the films of Sir Sidney Poitier, the award winning Bahamian actor, will be shown on ZNS TV.

An essay competition is being organized in the schools, details of which are that students are encouraged in the senior high schools to write a one page essay about the films they saw, what impressed them and say something about Sir Sidney's life...

Nassau, Bahamas – The 2016 Miss Bahamas pageants will be unlike any before them, and contestants are being sought across the country to be a part of this ground breaking new event. For the first time, the national beauty competitions will incorporate an interactive Reality TV Series in which the viewing public will act as a judge, determining which contestants will move on to compete in the finale of the Miss World Bahamas and Miss Bahamas (Universe & Earth) competitions, set for July 24.

While this concept is new to The Bahamas, it is not new to pageantry worldwide. Several national competitions have already moved to the TV show format in an effort to reach a larger audience...

MIAMI, FL - Film and Music Video submissions will be accepted for the 2nd Annual Widescreen Film and Music Video Festival starting Monday June 1st, 2015. The 6-day event will take place from February 16th through 21st, 2016 at AMC Theatres in Miami, FL, among several other locations. It promises to be even bigger and better than the last, introducing both a Fashion and Talent Show to its line-up of events.

The festival was founded on October 12, 2014 by twenty-five year old self-taught Bahamian filmmaker and entrepreneur, Jarrod Knowles who was also one of the first Bahamians to delve into the horror / comedy genre back in 2012, with his feature film, "What Lies Beyond...The Beginning."

NASSAU, Bahamas  – High school students have an opportunity to win $150,000 in scholarships now that Sunshine Insurance (Agents & Brokers) Ltd. has opened its 14th annual Elmira College essay competition.

Last year, Kingsway Academy student, Brittney Wells won the top prize – a $60,000 scholarship to attend Elmira College in New York.

Tenth, 11th and 12th grade students will have to submit essays in order to be considered. This year’s topic is, “If given the opportunity to start a business, what would your new product or service be?”
