the Bahamian sea.
Now, he says, the time has come to name it.

New Book by High-ranking Naval Officer Calls for Naming Bahamas Waters the Lucayan Sea - Jul 17, 2015 - 9:00:26 AM
Nassau, Bahamas - A high-ranking naval officer and author of
several scholarly publications is calling for the majestic waters of The
Bahamas and Turks & Caicos to be named the Lucayan Sea, declaring
that the name not only pays fitting tribute to the islands’ original
inhabitants but reflects the nature of Bahamians as a people of peace.
Captain
Tellis A. Bethel, Acting Commodore of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force,
makes a strong and thorough argument for the naming of yet-anonymous
waters in his new book, The Lucayan Sea, Birthplace of the Modern
Americas (Outskirts Press.com). The book, available in hard copy and
online for Kindle, takes the reader on a 90-page journey from the time
the Lucayans welcomed Christopher Columbus to the New World to the
continuing absence of a name for either the territorial waters extending
up to 12 miles or the exclusive economic zone that extends up to 200
miles offshore...

Pictorial History and Memories of Nassau's Over-The-Hill - May 13, 2015 - 11:36:01 PM
In
Rosemary C. Hanna's book, "Pictorial History and Memories of Nassau's
Over-The-Hill" the author seeks to paint a picture of what life was like
in the
Over-the-Hill area of Grant’s Town and surrounding areas on the Island
of New Providence, The Bahamas, beginning in the mid-nineteenth century
following Emancipation, when the area was settled by freed slaves. It
includes a brief history of the settlement and development of the area,
the role of the Church in that process, and introduces some of the
families that lived Over-The-Hill.
"On my frequent drives through
the old neighbourhood, I observed that most of the once lovely and
immaculately maintained homes of my childhood had disappeared or were in
a state of disrepair," said Hanna.
