American resident of Eleuthera dead after plane crash

ELEUTHERA, Bahamas - According to report, sometime around 8:30am on Friday 24th October 2014 An American resident of Whykees Estates Eleuthera was piloting his Cessna 310 aircraft and attempted to land at the Governor’sHarbour Airport when he encountered poor visibility and bad weather. The local Air Traffic Controllers directed him to the North Eleuthera Airport. The control tower eventually lost communication with the aircraft some time later.

Sometime around 4:30pm a resident of James Cistern, Eleuthera observed the body of a Caucasian male on the shoreline strapped in an aircraft seat. EMS responded to the scene where the male was pronounced dead by the local doctor. The body was flown to Nassau, where an autopsy will be held to determine the exact cause of death. The Bahamas Flight Standard Inspectorate will continue investigation into the cause of the crash.
