LPIA employee arrested for drug possession - Firearm seized

LPIA EMPLOYEE ARRESTED FOR DRUG POSSESSION

Nassau, Bahamas - Police are reporting the arrest of an adult male LPIA employee following the seizure of a quantity of dangerous drugs on Friday 22nd January 2016.

Reports are that around 1:00pm, Airport Authority Security Officers conducted a routine search of a water truck driven by the suspect at the entrance of the ramp at the Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) and uncovered 4 1⁄2 ounces of cocaine hidden in the truck. The police were notified and the suspect was arrested and taken into custody.

POLICE SEIZE ANOTHER FIREARM

Police are reporting the removal of another illegal firearm from the nation’s streets on Friday 22nd January 2016.

Reports are that about 10:00pm, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit, were conducting an operation in the Gamble Heights area, when the saw a group of men who aroused their suspicion. The group of men ran when the officers approached.

When the area was searched, a .45 pistol with three live rounds was discovered.
