Nassau Police recover BTC stolen copper wire, make major firearm and ammunition seizure & recover firearm

Southwestern Division Officers recover BTC stolen copper wire - Police are expected to make an arrest very shortly in the theft of a large amount of Bahamas Telecommunication Company (BTC) copper wire that occurred on Wednesday 26th February 2014.

According to reports, shortly before 3:00am Officers from the Southwestern Division were on routine patrol on Rocky Pine Road, when they observed a man loading a huge amount of copper wire into a Toyota Vehicle license number 216626. The man fled when he saw the officers approaching. Police is searching for the suspect.

Police conducted enquiries in the area and discovered that the copper wire was stolen from a nearby Bahamas Telecommunications Company overhead and ground connection.

Southwestern Division Officers make major firearm and ammunition seizure - Four (4) firearms and several hundred rounds of ammunition were seized during an intelligence led operation conducted by Southwestern Division Officers on Friday 28th February 2014.

No one was arrested in relation to the seizure.

According to reports around 4:00pm, a team of officers from the Southwestern Division acting on intelligence went to a Park in Flamingo Gardens, where they conducted a search of a backpack and found, 2 handguns, 2 rifles, and over 700 live rounds of ammunition.

Investigations are ongoing.

DEU Officers seize $7,000 worth of drugs, 3 arrested -  A 33 – year old man and two 17 - year old males are in custody after they were arrested for a large quantity of dangerous drugs on Friday 28th February 2014.

According to reports, around 5:00pm, a team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) acting on intelligence executed a search warrant at a Palm Beach Street home where they found 7 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $7,000.00. The three males were taken into custody and are expected to appear in court early next week to face drug related charges.

Mobile Division Officers recover firearm - According to reports, shortly after 2:00pm on Friday 28th February 2014, Mobile Division officers acting on intelligence went to Matthew Street, Nassau Village where they recovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition.

No one was arrested in relation to this discovery. Investigations are ongoing.
