Nassau man shot by police during armed robbery

Nassau, Bahamas - An armed robbery suspect is detained in hospital under heavy police guard after being shot by police during an armed robbery on Saturday 8th November 2014.

According to reports, around 7:30pm, the suspect armed with a handgun walked into a convenience store located Sea Breeze Lane and demanded cash. The cashier complied and gave the suspect a small amount of cash from the cash register. A police officer (a customer in the store at that time) confronted the suspect and ordered him to drop his weapon. The suspect refused and pointed the weapon at the officer. The officer in fear of his life shot the suspect once to the left side.

Police recovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition and the stolen cash from the suspect. The suspect was transported to hospital, where he is detained in serious condition under heavy police guard.

Investigations are ongoing.
