Nassau police arrest 13 and seize 3 firearms - DEU raid in Sunshine Park

THIRTEEN MEN IN CUSTODY AFTER POLICE SEIZED THREE FIREARMS

Nassau, Bahamas - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2017, Police seized three illegal firearms and several rounds of ammunition during special operations conducted this weekend.

In the first incident, around 10:00pm on Friday 5th May 2017, a team of officers during a special operation conducted a search of a premises, on Bowe Avenue, Montel Heights, where they found an unlicensed 12 - guage shotgun. Six adult males were taken into custody in connection with this discovery.

Then shortly after 12:00am on Saturday 6th May 2017, a team of officers during a special operation conducted a search of a premises, at Lightbourne Street, Yellow Elder Gardens, where they uncovered two Pistols with 25 rounds of ammunition. Seven adult males were taken into custody in connection with this discovery.

MALE AND FEMALE ARRESTED FOR FIREARM, AMMO AND DRUG POSSESSION DURING DEU RAID

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2017, Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) officers seized an illegal firearm and a quantity of dangerous during a special operation conducted on Saturday 6th May 2017.

According to reports, shortly before 7:00pm, a team of officers assigned to the Drug Enforcement Unit, executed a search warrant on a home located at Star Lane, Sunshine Park, where they uncovered a 9 – millimeter pistol, three rounds of ammunition, five pounds of marijuana and just over six thousand dollars in cash suspected of being the proceeds of crime. An adult male and an adult female were taken into custody in connection with the find.
