Pistol and ammo retrieved after chase outside Nassau night club, 2 in custody

Nassau, Bahamas - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2016, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team took an adult male and female into custody following the seizure of an illegal firearm on Saturday 12th November 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 8:00pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team were on routine patrol on Andros Avenue, when they saw a group of persons standing outside of a club acting suspiciously. A man and a woman in the group on seeing the officers fled on foot. The officers gave chase and saw when the man threw a firearm to the ground. The two suspects were caught and taken into custody. The firearm was retrieved and found to be a 9 – millimeter Pistol with 16 rounds of ammunition.
