2 ARRESTED AND A FIREARM SEIZED FOLLOWING A HIGH-SPEED CHASE

Nassau, Bahamas - According to reports, shortly after 6:00pm on Tuesday 13th January 2015, Mobile Division Officers were on patrol at Montrose Avenue and Wulff Road, when they attempted to stop a Honda Accord vehicle with two suspicious males. The vehicle refused to stop and a chase ensued throughout several areas of New Providence. The officers brought the vehicle to a stop at Sears Road, where they arrested two males ages 27 and 26. A short while later police recovered a handgun believed to have been thrown from the suspect’s vehicle.

Investigations are ongoing.


POLICE OPERATION TEAM SEIZE FIREARM AND NABS ATTEMPTED MURDER SUSPECT

According to reports, shortly before 11:00am on Tuesday 13th January 2015, officers assigned to a special police operations team acting on intelligence went to Churchill Avenue, Chippingham, where they arrested a 22 – year old male who was wanted in connection with an attempted murder. Police also recovered a shotgun the suspect had in his possession.

The operation team was under the command of Chief Superintendent Ashton Greenslade.

SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR ARMED ROBBERY BY TRAFFIC POLICE OFFICERS

According to reports, shortly before 12:noon on Tuesday 13th January 2015, officers from the Police Traffic Department were on patrol on Baillou Hill Road when they were alerted to an armed robbery that had just occurred on a public service bus. Acting on information received the officers gave chase after an 18 – year old male they saw running from the bus and arrested him after a short foot chase. The officers seized a knife and recovered a watch taken during the robbery.

TRAFFIC POLICE OFFICERS MAKE DRUG ARREST

According to reports, shortly before 4:00pm on Tuesday 13th January 2015, officers from the Police Traffic Department acting on intelligence went to Barclays Avenue, where they met a 26 – year old man acting suspiciously. The officers conducted a search of the suspect and found a plastic bag with 25 small foil papers containing marijuana. The suspect was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court later this week to be formally charged.
