RBPF Nassau: 2 illegal firearms recovered, 1 man in custody

Nassau, Bahamas - Police have taken two illegal firearms from the streets of New Providence in two separate incidents on Friday, 25th January, 2019 and have taken one man into custody.

In the first incident, according to reports, shortly after 1:00pm Southern Division Officers, acting on information went to a bushy area on Laird Street, where they searched and recovered a silver and black 9 millimeter pistol. No arrest was made in this incident.

Investigations are ongoing.

In the second incident, shortly after 2:00pm, Anti-Gang and Firearms officers were on patrol on Scott Street, Bain Town, when they searched a male and recovered from his trousers a .45 pistol and ten (10) rounds of ammunition. 

The man was taken into custody and is expected to be formally charged before a Magistrate Court next week.
