6 ARRESTED AND 217 DRIVERS TICKETED DURING POLICE OPERATION
Nassau, Bahamas - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2017, police conducted an island-wide operation in New Providence on Tuesday 25th July 2017.
The operation targeted wanted persons and drivers who were in breach of the rules of the road.
A total of 217 drivers were ticketed for various violations and three (6) persons were arrested for outstanding court warrants.
Police wish to reassure members of the public, that they are utilizing all resources to ensure that individuals who continue to be engaged in criminal activities are arrested and brought to justice.
HANDGUN AND DRUGS SEIZED
Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, Police seized a handgun and a quantity of dangerous drugs in separate incidents on Tuesday 25th July 2017.
In the first incident, around 1:30pm, Drug Enforcement Unit officers on routine patrol conducted a search of a premises located in Kemp Road, where they uncovered five pounds of marijuana.
Then a few minutes later, Eastern Division officers on routine patrol conducted a search of a premises located off Prince Charles Drive, where they uncovered a 9 – millimeter pistol with 15 rounds of ammunition.
No arrests were made in these two incidents. Investigations are ongoing

Everyone should consider it his/her responsibility to report crime. Many
criminals target favorite areas and have predictable methods of
operation. When you report all the facts about a crime, it helps the
police assign officers in the places where crimes are occurring or where
they are most likely to occur. If you don’t report crime, this allows
the criminal to continue to operate without interference.
In many cases, it is the information provided by victims and witnesses
that leads to the arrest of a criminal. So tell the police as much as
you can; no fact is too trivial. The police need the eyes and ears of
all citizens.
