RBPF Nassau Arrest 16 Jamaican females - investigate 2 overnight shootings

16 Jamaican females arrested during Police Anti-Crime Operation -
Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2015, police are reporting the arrest of 16 Jamaican females and 8 other persons for various criminal offences such as murder, causing harm and dangerous drugs, during an anti-crime operation conducted last night.

Seven (7) of the Jamaican females were arrested at a nightclub on Madeira Street and the other nine (9) were arrested at a nightclub on Robinson Road. Police suspect the women to be at the nightclubs, for the purpose of solicitation for prostitution. The women were taken into custody for solicitation for prostitution and Breach of the Immigration Act. Police also confiscated a large amount of cash from women believed to be the proceeds of crime. The club owner of both clubs was also arrested for breach of the Business License Act and solicitation for prostitution.

Police investigating two overnight shootings - In the first incident, shortly after 12:30am on Sunday 13th September 2015, a man was involved in an altercation with another man outside of a nightclub located on Wulff Road that resulted in him receiving a gunshot wound. The man was rushed to hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

A 33 – year old man is in custody assisting police with investigations into this incident.

In the second incident, around 3:30am on Sunday 13th September 2015, an off duty female police officer was exiting a nightclub located on Tonique Darling Highway, when she was shot in the arm. The officer was transported to hospital, where she remains in stable condition.
Investigations are ongoing.

Police are appealing to anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the other three suspects, no matter how small or insignificant (the tip) may seem, to anonymously call police at 919 or crime stoppers at 328-tips (8477) (New Providence) or 1-242-300-8476 (Family Islands)
