RBPF Nassau: Police investigating that has left an adult male dead and another man detained in hospital

POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING THE COUNTRY’S LATEST
HOMICIDE.

Police on New Providence are investigating a shooting incident, Tuesday, 19th November, 2019 which has left an adult male dead and another man detained in hospital.

According to reports, shortly after 11:00pm, two men were at Ash Lane, Pinewood Gardens in the vicinity of Mt. Tabor Church, when they were approached by a man known to them, who shot them and fled the area. Both men were transported to hospital and a short time later one of them succumbed to his injuries. The second man is in stable condition.

Police are appealing to members of the public, who may have information that can assist with this investigations, to contact the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991/2, Crime stoppers at 328-TIPS (8477) or the nearest police station.

POLICE INVOLVED SHOOTING 

Police are investigating a shooting incident Wednesday, 20th November, 2019 which resulted in an adult male being shot.

According to reports, shortly after 1:00am a police officers were on the inside of the Carmichael Road Police Station when they heard a crashing sound on the outside. They made checks and discovered that the driver of a burgundy Ford Explorer had crashed into a vehicle in the parking lot. Officers attempted to assist the driver, when he accelerated the vehicle in their direction, attempting to hit then. The officers being in fear for his life, fired his service weapon in the direction of the male, who sped away. A short time later, the vehicle crashed in to light pole on Carmichael Road near Sir. Milo Butler Highway. Officers discovered that the man had been shot. He was transported to hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

ILLEGAL FIREARMS RECOVERED – 1 MALE IN CUSTODY

Police have recovered an illegal firearm from the streets of New Providence and have taken one man into custody, Tuesday, 19th November, 2019.

According to reports, shortly before 2:00pm, Central Detective Unit Officers were on patrol on Baillou Hill Road, when they observed a man in a white Acura vehicle. The man upon seeing the officers, began acting in a suspicious manner. The officers stopped the vehicle, conducted a search and recovered a black .308 pistol which contained four (4) rounds of ammunition.

The man was taken into custody and is expected to be formally charged later this week.

  • PERSONNEL SAFETY FIRST! MONEY AND MERCHANDISE ARE NOT IMPROTANT AND CAN BE REPLACED
  • Stay calm and don’t resist.
  • Do as instructed and don’t make sudden moves.
  • Keep your hands visible at all times.
  • Get a look at the robber if possible, but don’t stare.
  • Activate the alarm only when it’s safe to do so.
  • If possible, get a look at the robber’s vehicle and the direction travel.
  • Do not follow the robber.
  • Install surveillance cameras and ensure that they are in working condition
