RBPF Nassau: Police investigate traffic fatality

Nassau, Bahamas - Police on New Providence, are investigating a traffic collision Sunday, 29th September, 2019, which has left an adult male dead.

According to reports, shortly before 6:00am, the driver of a Honda Saber was driving south on Baillou Hill Road in the area of the Farmer’s Market, when he collided into a utility pole. He received serious injuries and succumbed to those injuries on scene. A passenger who sustained injuries, was transported to hospital and is listed in serious condition.

Officers from the RBPF Traffic Department will continue investigations into this matter
Police have taken one man into custody in connection with an armed robbery and are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating others responsible for two other armed robberies which occurred over night. 

In the first incident, according to reports, shortly after 9:00am, Saturday 28th September, 2019 an armed man entered a business establishment on Spikenard Road and robbed the employee of cash and other items before running from the store. The Employee got into his vehicle and followed the armed suspect; eventually pinning him against a chain link fence. RBDF Marines and Officers of the RBPF arrived on scene and took the suspect into custody. A 9 millimeter pistol, cash and a watch were recovered. 

The suspect who received injuries, was transported to hospital and is detained in serious condition.

In the second incident, shortly after 9:00pm, Saturday, 28th September, 2019 two men had just arrived at a home in Sunshine Park, when they were approached by two armed man, who robbed them of a Nissan Note license # AJ8930.

In the third incident, shortly after 2:00am, Sunday, 29th September, 2019 a man and woman had just arrived at a residence in Blue Hill Heights, when they were approached by two armed men who robbed them of cash and cell phones before making good their escape.   

Investigations are ongoing.
