POLICE INVESTIGATES COUNTRY’S LATEST HOMICIDES – ADULT MALE IN CUSTODY

Nassau, Bahamas - Police on the Island of New Providence are aggressively investigating the circumstance surrounding a shooting incident Monday, 14th October 2019, which has left an adult male dead.

According to reports, shortly after 8:00pm a male was standing on Pitt Lane off Sandy Lane, when he got into an argument with a man who is known to him, who shot him multiple times before running away. Paramedics were called to the scene but were unable to resuscitate the victim. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are appealing to members of the public, who may have information that can assist with this investigation, to contact the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991/2, Crime stoppers at 328-TIPS (8477) or the nearest police station.

Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE INVOLVED SHOOTING

Police are investigating a shooting incident Monday 14th October, 2019 which resulted in an adult male being shot.

According to reports, shortly after 11:00am a police officer was on routine patrol when he observed a male riding an unlicensed motor cycle. The officer attempted to stop the driver, who continued speeding, followed by the officer. As they were on Moore venue, the officers observed the driver of the motor cycle pulled a black firearm from his waist. The officers being in fear for his life, fired his service weapon in the direction of the male, hitting him to his leg and causing him to fall to the ground. The officers observed a black male picked up the firearm and ran from the area. The injured man was transported to hospital and is listed in stable condition.  No one else was injured during this incident.

Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE INVESTIGATES SHOOTING INCIDENTS- ADULT MALE
IN CUSTODY

Police on the Island of New Providence are investigating two shooting incidents Monday, 14th 2019, which left two adult males detained in hospital.

In the first incident, shortly before 5:00pm, two men were standing at the junction of Ethel Street and Ethel Close, Montel Height, when the occupants of a pink Nissan March pulled up and opened fire in their direction, hitting one of them before speeding away. Paramedics transported the injured man to hospital where he is listed in stable condition.A short time later police arrested a 20 year old of Mount Tabor Estate in connection with this matter and recovered a pink Nissan March.

In a second incident, according to reports, shortly before 6:00pm a group of men were standing in a yard on Swaziland Crest, Elizabeth Estate, when two of them became involved in an argument, which escalated, resulting in one man producing a firearm and shooting the other multiple times to the body. The injured was transported to hospital via ambulance and is listed in serious condition.
 
Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE INVESTIGATES ARMED ROBBERY

Police on New Providence are actively investigating a recent armed robbery which occurred Tuesday, 1th October, 2019.

According to reports, shortly after 2:00am, a man had just arrived at his residence on Fox Hill Road, when he was approached by armed men, who robbed him of cash, jewelry and other items, before getting into his Honda MIBILO #AL6445 and speeding away. The vehicle was recovered a short time later in the immediate area.

Investigations are ongoing.

ARMED ROBBERY SAFETY TIPS –

  • PERSONNEL SAFETY FIRST! MONEY AND MERCHANDISE ARE NOT IMPORTANT AND CAN BE REPLACED
  • Stay calm and don’t resist.
  • Do as instructed and don’t make sudden moves.
  • Keep your hands visible at all times.
  • Get a look at the robber if possible, but don’t stare.
  • Activate the alarm only when it’s safe to do so.
  • If possible, get a look at the robber’s vehicle and the direction travel.
  • Do not follow the robber.
  • Install surveillance cameras and ensure that they are in working condition
