POLICE INVESTIGATES STABBING INCIDENT 

Police on New Providence are investigation a shooting incident Sunday, November 24, 2019 which has left an adult male detained in hospital.

According to reports, shortly after 2:00am, a man was at a night club on Maxwell Lane, Rock Crusher Sub-division, when he got into an argument with another man, which escalated, resulting in him being stabbed about his body. He was transported to hospital and is listed in serious but stable condition. 

Police are appealing to members of the public, who may have information that can assist with this investigation, to contact the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991/2, Crime stoppers at 328-TIPS (8477) or the nearest police station. 

Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE “SILENT NIGHT” OPERATION

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2019, police assisted by Marines from the Royal Bahamas Defense Force conducted operations in various parts of New Providence, Saturday, 23rd November, 2019, which led to the arrest of a number of persons. 

The ongoing police operations are aimed at suppressing crime in a number of areas and to send a clear message to those responsible for committing criminal acts on members of our communities, that the police will proactively identify them and ensure that they are prosecuted and brought to justice. 

Yesterday’s operation led to the arrest of 4 persons for a number of criminal offenses including fraud, possession of dangerous illegal firearm and threats of death. One (1) searched warrants was executed, twenty-three (23) fixed penalty notices were issued to drivers, and one person (1) arrested for outstanding warrant.

ILLEGAL FIREARM RECOVERED- 1 PERSON ARRESTED

Police on New Providence have recovered an illegal firearm and ammunition and have taken one male into custody, Saturday, 23rd November, 2019.

According to reports, shortly after 10:00pm, Operations Officers were on patrol on Spence Street, when they observed a man walking. The man, upon seeing the officers, began acting in a suspicious manner. Officers conducted a search of the male and recovered a 9 millimeter pistol which contained fourteen (14) rounds of ammunition.

The 34 year old male of McCullough Corner was taken into custody and is expected to be formally charged before a Magistrate Court later this week.

ILLEGAL DANGEROUS DRUGS RECOVERED

According to reports, shortly before 10:00pm, Operation Officers acting on information conducted a search of a bushy area on Kim’s Crescent off Baillou Hill Road and recovered 383 foil wrapping, 2 plastic bags and a container with suspected marijuana.

  • Do as instructed and don’t make sudden moves.
  • Keep your hands visible at all times.
  • Get a look at the robber if possible, but don’t stare.
  • Activate the alarm only when it’s safe to do so.
  • If possible, get a look at the robber’s vehicle and the direction travel.
  • Do not follow the robber.
  • Install surveillance cameras and ensure that they are in working condition
