Nassau police search for suspects in four overnight armed robberies

Nassau, Bahamas - POLICE are searching for several suspects responsible for four separate armed robberies that occurred last night.

In the first incident, shortly after 10:00pm, a man was at Purpose Way, Ridgeland Park when a man armed with a handgun robbed him of two cell phones, a tablet and cash before fleeing on foot.

In the second incident, shortly after 11:00pm, a man was at Sisal Road, when the occupants of a Silver Mercedes Benz robbed him of his green 2002 Honda vehicle license number 225202 and sped off.

In the third incident, shortly after 11:30pm, a pizza delivery woman was delivering pizza on Butler Street, Nassau village, when the occupants of a dark Honda vehicle robbed her of an order of chicken and two large pizzas and sped off.

In the fourth incident, shortly after 1:00am this morning, a woman was on Dawson Street off Soldier Road when the occupants of a green Honda vehicle robbed them of their champagne coloured Nissan Primera vehicle license number 284060 and sped off.

Investigations are ongoing.

WEEKLY CRIME PREVENTION TIP – Vehicle Safety Prevention

Crimes involving your motor vehicle are crimes of opportunity. In an attempt to prevent crimes, you want to make your vehicle less of a target. The Royal Bahamas Police Force would like to provide you with some simple tips to help you protect your vehicle and your belongings.

  • Secure your vehicle by locking all doors and rolling up the windows
  • Remove all personal property such as purses and wallets
  • Do not leave your cell phone, laptop computers or jewelry in your vehicle
  • Do not leave packages in your vehicle, or other items that look as if they would contain items
  • Criminals often figure there are valuables in the packages
  • Park in well lit areas with lots of traffic
  • At home, leave your outside lights on, or install motion lights in areas where they cannot be defeated
  • Limit access to your vehicle keys. Keep them with you, do not loan them out to others, do not leave them in gym lockers, etc.
  • Do not leave your vehicle running or your keys in the vehicle unattended
