RBPF Nassau: Seeking armed robbery suspects - US visitor arrested for drug possession

Nassau, Bahamas - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2016, officers from Tourism Policing Unit took an American man from New York into custody after they found a quantity of dangerous drugs in his possession on Tuesday 11th October 2016.

Reports are that around 3:00pm, officers from the Tourism Policing Unit, acting on information went onboard a cruise ship moored at Prince George Wharf, where they arrested the man after they found a quantity of marijuana in his possession.

Police are seeking the public’s help in locating the suspects responsible for two separate armed robberies that occurred on Tuesday 11th October 2016.

In the first incident, shortly before 9:00pm, a woman was standing outside of her silver 1999 Honda Inspire vehicle license number 269102 on Poinciana Drive, when a man armed with a handgun approached and robbed her of her vehicle before speeding off.

In the second incident, shortly after 9:00pm, a man armed with a handgun robbed a service station on Prince Charles Drive near Fox Hill Road of an undetermined amount of cash before fleeing in a green Honda Fit vehicle.

Police are actively investigating both incidents.

FIREARMS, AMMO AND DRUGS SEIZED

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2016, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team took more illegal firearms off the streets of New Providence on Tuesday 11th October 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 7:00pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team were on routine patrol on Nassau Street, when they saw a suspicious male walking with a bag in his hands. The male on seeing the officers dropped the bag and fled on foot. The officers gave chase but were unable to catch the male. The officers made a check of the bag and found it to contain one .22 revolver riffle and a 410 shotgun along with (6) clear plastic bags, each with a quantity of marijuana.
