RBPF Nassau: 4 firearms seized - 50 arrested in operation

POLICE SEIZE FOUR MORE FIREARMS DURING OVERNIGHT ANTI-CRIME OPERATION, 32 ARRESTED

Nassau, Bahamas - Police are reporting the seizure of four more firearms and the arrest of 32 persons for questioning reference to a number serious offences including firearms, drugs, armed robbery and housebreaking during an overnight anti-crime operation.

In the first incident, the operation team members acting on intelligence went to a home located at Soldier Road, where they arrested an adult male after finding an unlicensed rifle in his possession.

In the second incident, the operation team members acting on intelligence went to a home located at

Peter Street, where they arrested 6 adult males and 2 adult females after finding a handgun along with 13 rounds of ammunition in their possession.

In the third incident, the operation team members acting on intelligence went to a bushy area located at Montel Heights, where they uncovered two handguns along with 6 live rounds of ammunition.

The operation was under the command of Chief Superintendents Clayton Fernander and Theopilus Cunningham

18 ARRESTED DURING SOUTHEASTERN DIVISION OPERATION

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2015, Southeastern Division officers conducted an operation in the division on Friday 16th January 2015 that targeted persons involved in crime and persons wanted for various criminal offences.

The operation resulted in the arrest of 18 persons for offenses such as house breaking, dangerous drugs and breach of the Liquor License Act.

The operation was under the command of Superintendent Maxine Leary-Rolle.

WEEKLY PREVENTION CRIME TIP - REDUCING STEALING FROM VEHICLES

• When at home park in the driveway instead of the street

• Leave light illuminating vehicles at night

• Install security systems in your vehicles and activate!

• Do NOT leave valuables inside your vehicle, where items are easily seen

• DO NOT leave packages or gifts inside vehicle in plain sight. Place in trunk of vehicle.

• Do NOT leave any containers inside vehicle that a thief could mistake as being of value. (i.e. empty computer or electronic boxes, backpacks, etc…)

• Use common sense. Think like a thief.

Police are appealing to anyone with information regarding any crime, no matter how small or insignificant (the tip) may seem, to anonymously call Police at 919 or CRIME STOPPERS at 328-TIPS (8477) (New Providence) or 1-242-300-8476 (Family Islands)
