RBPF Nassau: Stabbing suspect in custody - Stolen items seized - 11 arrests / 16 citations overnight

SUSPECT IN CUSTODY FOR CAUSING HARM

Nassau, Bahamas - A 23 year old man is in custody following a stabbing incident that occurred Wednesday 16th July, 2014, that has left one man detained in hospital.

According to reports, shortly before 10:00pm, a young man was involved in an altercation with the suspect at Windsor Lane off East Street that resulted in him being stabbed to the neck and head with a sharp object. The victim was transported to hospital where he is detained in stable condition.A short while later Mobile Division officers arrested the suspect in connection with this incident.

61 DRIVERS BY SOUTHEASTERN DIVISION OFFICERS

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2014, Southeastern Division officers, conducted an operation in the division on Wednesday 16th July 2014, that resulted in 61 drivers being cited for various Traffic Violations.

11 ARRESTED BY MOBILE DIVISION OFFICERS OVERNIGHT

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2014, Mobile Division saturation patrols intended to reduce crime and to minimize the ability for criminals to commit criminal activities resulted in the following arrests overnight:

Eight (8) arrests for an Outstanding Court Warrants

One (1) arrest for Causing Damage

One (1) arrest for Threats of Death

One (1) arrest for Causing Harm

Additionally, 12 drivers were cited for various traffic violations.

HANDGUNS, DRUGS AND STOLEN ITEMS SEIZED BY MOBILE OFFICERS

Mobile Division officers seized two handguns along with a quantity of ammunition, drugs and stolen items at Strachan’s Alley off Kemp Road on Wednesday 16th July 2014.No one was arrested in connection with the seizure.

According to reports, shortly before 10:20pm, Mobile Division officers, acting on intelligence went to an abandoned building located at Strachan’s Alley off Kemp Road, where they uncovered two (2) handguns, along with a quantity of ammunition, marijuana and suspected stolen electronic equipment.

POLICE are appealing to anyone with information regarding any crime, no matter how small or insignificant (the tip) may seem, to anonymously call Police at 919 or CRIME STOPPERS at 328-TIPS (8477) (New Providence) or 1-242-300-8476 (Family Islands)
