Nassau, Bahamas - The motoring public is hereby notified that due to a demonstration which is set to begin at 9:00am, Wednesday, 21st November, 2018 at Baillou Hill and Tucker Roads, all vehicular traffic traveling on Baillou Hill Road, will be diverted as follows:
- East on Wulff Road and West on Poinciana Drive until the march is completed.
- Once the demonstrators arrives at Bay Street, motorists wishing to travel east on Bay Street from Navy Lion Road will be diverted east on Woodes Rodgers Walk to East Street.
Once the March has begun, only emergency vehicles will be allowed to continue north on Baillou Hill Road or east on Bay Street, where necessary.
POLICE INVESTIGATE RECENT ARMED ROBBERIES
Police on New Providence are actively searching for a number of men believed to be responsible for three armed robberies which occurred Tuesday, 20th November, 2018.
In the first incident, shortly before 7:00am, a woman was walking on Fire trail Road off Carmichael Road, when she was approached by a male armed with a firearm, who robbed her of her hand bag, containing cash and other items, before running away.
In the second incident, according to reports, shortly after 9:00pm, a male was at a business establishment on Gibbs Corner, when he was approached by a male armed with a firearm, robbed him of cash and a cell phone before getting into his 2016 silver Honda Accord and speeding away.
In the third and final incident, according to reports, shortly after 11:00pm, a female was in a parking lot on West Bay Street, when she was approached by an armed man who robbed her of her hand bag, which contained cash and other personal items, before getting into her red two door Honda Civic and speeding away.
80 FIXED PENALTY NOTICES ISSUED TO DRIVERS BY MOBILE
DIVISION OFFICERS IN PAST 48 HOUR
Officers from the Mobile Divisions conducted road checks in various parts of the island. Their efforts, which were intended to educate, reduce crime, and to minimize the ability of criminals to commit criminal activity, resulted in the arrest of fourteen (14) persons for outstanding criminal warrants, armed robbery, stealing and assault over the past 48 hours.
Additionally, 80 drivers were ticketed for various traffic violations.
