POLICE SEARCHING FOR SUSPECTS IN SHOOTING AND ARMED ROBBERY

Nassau, Bahamas - Police are seeking the public’s help in locating the suspects responsible for an armed robbery and shooting that occurred on Tuesday 23rd August 2016.

In the first incident, shortly after 9:00pm a woman was sitting in a gray Nissan Premira vehicle in front of a home located at Ridgeland Park west, when two males armed with a handgun approached and robbed her of the vehicle before speeding off.

In the second incident, shortly before 10:00pm, a man was involved in an argument with another man in front of a home located at Blue Hill Road South, that led to him being shot. The man was rushed to hospital where his condition is listed as stable.

Investigations are ongoing.

SUSPECTS IN WANTED FOR SEVERAL ARMED ROBBERIES IN CUSTODY

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2016, Quick action by officers from the Western Division on Tuesday 23rd August 2016 has led to the arrest of three suspects wanted for a number of armed robberies.

Reports are that around 1:30pm, officers from the Western Division were conducting an operation in the area of Blake Road, when they spotted three males in a Mazda vehicle that was stolen during a recent armed robbery. The officers ordered the men to stop the vehicle but they refused and sped off at a high rate of speed. A chase then ensued throughout the western area of New Providence. The officers sent out an All Points Bulletin (APB) for the vehicle and were joined by several other police units. A short while later the suspects crashed into a police unit on Spikenard Road, where they were arrested and taken into custody. Two of the officers and one of the suspects were injured during the crash are detained in hospital in stable condition.

POLICE SEIZED ANOTHER ILLEGAL GUN, ONE MAN IN CUSTODY

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2016, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team took another illegal firearm off the streets of New Providence on Tuesday 23rd August 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 11:00pm, Selective Enforcement Unit officers executed search warrant on a home located at Whites Road off Market Street, where they uncovered a Glock Pistol with 21 rounds of ammunition. As a result, an adult male was taken into custody for questioning in connection with this discovery.
