Two Jamaican women arrested in Bahamas for drug possession

DEU ARREST JAMAICAN WOMAN FOR IMPORTATION OF DRUGS AT LPIA 

Nassau, Bahamas - A 30 – year old Jamaican woman is in custody after she was arrested for importation of dangerous drugs at LPIA on Wednesday 9th April 2014. 

According to reports, around 1:00pm, Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) Officers acting on intelligence conducted a search of the suspect who had just arrived on a commercial airline from Panama and found 2.4 pounds of cocaine in her possession. The drugs have an estimated street value of $16,000:00. 

Additionally, the officers seized the sum of $1,200.00 from the woman suspected to be the proceeds of dangerous drugs. The woman was taken into custody and is now facing Importation of Dangerous Drugs and Possession of Dangerous Drugs with Intent to Supply charges.

DEU ARREST JAMAICAN WOMAN FOR DRUG POSSESSION AT A HOTEL 

A 51 – year old Jamaican woman is in custody after she was arrested for Possession of Dangerous Drugs on Wednesday 9th April 2014. 

 According to reports, shortly after 1:30pm, Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) Officers acting on intelligence conducted a search of a hotel room in Down Town, Nassau and found an orange bag containing 2.4 pounds of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $16,000:00. Additionally, the officers seized the sum of $765.26 from the woman suspected to be the proceeds of dangerous drugs. The woman was taken into custody and is now facing Importation of Dangerous Drugs and Possession of Dangerous Drugs with Intent to Supply charges. 

DEU confirmed that this suspect also arrived to The Bahamas on a commercial airline from Panama today.
