3 adult males dead after Nassau shootings

POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING THE COUNTRY’S LATEST
HOMICIDES. 

Nassau, Bahamas - Police on New Providence are investigating a shooting incident, Saturday 2nd February, 2019 which has left an adult male dead.

According to reports, shortly before 7:00am, a man was walking on Fritz Lane off East Street, when he was approached by occupants of a gray vehicle, who opened fired on him, hitting him about the body before speeding away. Paramedics were called to the scene, attempted to revive the injured man; however he was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police on New Providence are also investigating two separate shooting incidents overnight, which has left two adult males dead.

In the first incident, according to reports, shortly before 11:00pm, Friday, 1st February, 2019 a male was standing on the outside of a bar on Miami Street, off Cordeaux Avenue, when he was approached by a group of men, one armed with a firearm, who shot him, before running away. Emergency Medical Services Personal were called; however, the male was pronounced dead on scene. 

In the second incident, according to reports, shortly after 3:00am, Saturday, 2nd February, 2019, Police responded to Rosedale and Mackey Streets, after receiving reports of a male being shot. Officers discovered the man with injuries to his body. Paramedics were called to the scene, attempted to revive the victim, but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Further reports are that the deceased got into an altercation with two men, when one of the men produced a firearm and shot him before both men ran away. 

Police are appealing to members of the public, who may have information that can assist with these investigations, to contact the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991/2, Crime stoppers at 328-TIPS (8477) or the nearest police station. 

Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE INVESTIGATES SHOOTING INCIDENT

Police on the Island of New Providence are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the persons responsible for two separate shooting incidents, which occurred overnight, which left two adult male in hospital In the first incident, according to reports, shortly after 9:00pm, Friday, 1st February, 2019, a man was at New Hope Drive, Joan’s Heights, when he was approached by a male on a bicycle, who produced a firearm and shot him, before speeding away. The victim was transported to hospital where he is listed in serious condition.

In the second incident, shortly after 2:00am Saturday, 2nd February, 2019 police responded to Patton Street and Rupert Dean Lane, Bain Town, after receiving reports that a male had been shot and was transported to hospital. Reports are that the victim was sitting in his vehicle in front of his home, when occupants of a blue Honda vehicle opened fire in his direction, hitting him, before speeding away. The victim is listed in serious condition.

Investigations are ongoing.

Police are appealing to members of the public who may have information concerning these incident, to contact Crime Stoppers at 328-TIPS (8477) or the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991/2.

ILLEGAL DRUGS RECOVERED AT LPIA– 1 ADULT FEMALE
TOURIST IN CUSTODY

According to reports, shortly after 3:00pm, Friday, 1st February, 2019 Airport Division Officers, while in the US Customs Hall at Lynden Pindling International Airport, arrested an adult American female, after she was found in possession of twenty (20)  grams of suspected marijuana.

The female is expected to be formally arraigned before the Magistrate Court later this week.

68 FIXED PENALTY NOTICES ISSUED TO DRIVERS BY MOBILE
DIVISION OFFICERS IN PAST 24 HOUR   

Officers from the Mobile Divisions conducted road checks in various parts of the island. Their efforts, which were intended to educate, reduce crime, and to minimize the ability of criminals to commit criminal activity, resulted in the arrest of ten (10) persons for outstanding criminal warrants, stealing, possession of dangerous drugs and causing harm over the past 24 hours.  

Additionally, 68 drivers were ticketed for various traffic violations
