Carnival is over now..... So what's next..... especially for the local musicians.

There is NO question that the imported musicians (Haitian, Cuban, Colombian, and Trinidadian) out performed the local artists. YES..I'M GONNA SAY IT ... the truth needs to be told and looked squarely in the face.

We can attempt to walk softly around it... BUT WE AIN'T READY..... and.... Machel Montano was DA BOSS... Manalito Simonet was phenomenal.....and the Bahamian acts....ALL OF US..... were warmly received by OUR people.

We could try to say we are not appreciated all we want... we have to accept that the local public is not dumb and have access to all of the new music out there... and know what they want to see in Live performances. We can't continue to try and force stuff down their throats in the name of Rake 'N Scrape or Junkanoo... and walk away as if we did something great. THEY ARE SMARTER THAN THAT.

We are sooo far in the back...we think we are in the front.
If Carnival is gonna benefit the local musicians... then there has to be some plan to assist in training and getting better productions before next year. Otherwise....we will even be more inundated with GREAT Soca music.

Say whatever we want fellow musicians..... the 2015 Carnival music from Trinidad is phenomenal... and songs like 'Lucy' is a prime example of what I'm talking about. WHAT DO WE HAVE TO COMPARE!!

We need an URGENT conversation... and URGENT assistance and URGENT acceptance of the TRUTH.

Note that I'm not leaving myself out of this discussion... I'm saying WE... because I'm a part of the Entertainment Society... but I'm willing to face the truth.

If anyone thinks I'm being harsh... Crab Fest and other Fests are coming up soon. Look at the lineup... analyze the performances and see if there is any comparison to Machel or any of the others we saw recently.

Lord knows I wish it was better.. but nothing gets fixed unless we are willing to face the truth.

WE GAT WORK TO DO!!!
