Questions to Bahamians

Things I just don't get...

How is it, when the Prime Minister doesn't want to make a decision, he holds a "waste our time voting session" aka a referendum.... then still goes ahead and does what he ever wanted to do in the first place... And this is called democracy? No its communism...

How is it, that information about how the government spends, operates and uses funds is not available to public? In fact a lot of vital information about the operation of this country is not available to the public. Keeping people ignorant, in chains, shackled... Mental slavery.

How is it that the government would rather pay foreigners an arm, leg, kidneys and lungs plus a heart....but would rather pay an educated Bahamian with a brain, scraps from the master’s dog’s table. So young Bahamians leave, go off to college, excel and come home to be told they are over qualified, underpaid or no jobs are available. They stay away in foreign countries and better those countries. Then the people of the Bahamas say we have "Brain drain". No, it's quite the opposite. Having water but pouring it down the drain is called wasting. If someone else took ya water - it's called stealing. If you gave ya clean water away and prefer to drink dirty water cause that's what you’re use to - it's called being stupid - not ignorant, just stupid.

How is it, that the government has millions of dollars to bail out banks, can meet the needs (I mean greed) of various unions, can spend frivolously on things that are of no major importance yet schools are overcrowded, roads have potholes the size of craters, crime is ridiculously high, there are no jobs for our high school graduates, improper health care facilities, improper airport and police facilities and poor government employee customer service. It starts with the head and trickles down to the tail. A leader leads by example, a slack leader leads a slack government, hence nation...

How is it that criminals make bail for murder, but if you steal electricity you get one year no bail?? I guess money equals freedom, and the bail is the price of a life. How much money is a life worth, what's the bail??

How is it that people work for government, and are not paid until years later, and in some cases not paid at all? Can one sue the government after a given time frame for not receiving funds after due service, records and documents were given? Yet if you owe them money, they are faster than lightening to cut your pay and collect. The balance of power is truly unequal

How is it that you spend, and the people pay? Yes, taxes are needed to help with government spending and meeting the needs of the economy, but the salaries of the people should be at the standard to handle taxation. At this point in time it is not. The select few (the minority who CAN afford to be taxed without feeling it) won’t. For the everyday man and woman struggling to make ends meet, an extra 7.5% on food and bills will be the difference between them working three jobs to survive or struggling with two.

How is it that certain companies, light, cable, phone etc. want to increase our bills and while their services are below standard? And who decides if we should pay more? People that don't live here or even experience their horrible service?

How is it that matters of national interest such as other governments tapping our phone lines, monies owed by banks, MPs leaving office to go work elsewhere, various unsolved murders, and other national events just faded from news and hence from public memory but no answer is received?

I am the everyday educated Bahamian. I am fed up with what I see. I am fed up with feeding the insatiable greed of the minority. I am fed up with being passive and simply just bickering and complaining about what needs to be done. Our leaders, businesses, neighbors and country belongs to us. They are accountable to us. Their actions affect us. We are the majority. And it's time they feared our opinion. It's time the government feared the people. It's time these businesses feared the customer. Our rights have been passively taken away from us as we've become so comfortable in simple sticking our heads down as the world passes us by. I say no more. It’s time. Rise Bahamas.
