Nassau RBPF: 2 firearms seized, 1 suspect in custody

Nassau, Bahamas - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2015, police have taken two more illegal firearms off the streets of New Providence over the past 24 hours.

In the first incident, around 4:30pm on Thursday 6th August 2015, officers from the Mobile Division were on patrol, when they observed two suspicious males in a van on Madeira Street. On seeing the officers one of the males threw a handgun outside of the van. The officers retrieved the handgun that contained 7 rounds of ammunition. The officers then took the two 31 – year old males of Skyline Drive and East Ridge into custody for questioning.

In the second incident, shortly before 5:00pm on Thursday 6th August 2015, officers from the Flying Squad acting on information went to Hospital Lane and Dunmore Street, where they uncovered a handgunfrom underneath a pile of trash. No one was arrested in this incident.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have any information regarding any crime, no matter how small or insignificant (the tip) may seem, to anonymously call Police at 919 or CRIME STOPPERS at 328-TIPS (8477) OR 1-242-300-8476 (FAMILY ISLANDS)
