WATER…

Liquid gold drips down my throat

Quenching the thirst that nothing else can satiate

Reviving my cells, refortifying my body

Bringing vitality back to me

Laying in pools of soft flowing clarity

Solid yet transparent

Velvet to my touch

I dream I can breathe it in

In a past life I was a mermaid

There is water in my womb

The ebb and flow of life

The boat of my desires floats upon a sea

Of crystalline liquid

Reflecting God’s love from above

I step in carefully then take my plunge

To the depths of who I am

Yet when I look back to the surface

I can see me there too

Yet any depth is never deep enough

To find the secret that it carries

For it comes from above and also below

I am only in the cycle of it

Sky, earth, womb, mother

In my cells, my soul

I dive in again and again

I can never drink enough

Of this sweet elixir of life

An element of life, an element of me

Where I came from and where I feel at peace

Blue, green, clear like glass

The diamond of the earth’s surface

Water! Life!

The Islands of The Bahamas are surrounded by water, so we must know how very important water is to us! It is as necessary for human function as it is necessary as our food source. In The Bahamas we are blessed by its abundance of food, its beauty and the enjoyment it provides.

Here are some facts found online:

1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.

2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.

3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.

4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study.

5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.

8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.
