On behalf of the Ministry of Health I join with colleagues and people across this great Commonwealth in extending sincere condolences to the family and friends of Dr. the Honourable Bernard “BJ” Nottage, a former Minister of Health in the Government of The Bahamas. This great Bahamian ended his earthly pilgrimage Wednesday 28th June, 2017. I offer my prayers and support to his wife Portia and his sons, and I know that fellow physicians and the entire medical community are indeed saddened by this loss.

BJ – an extraordinary human being, a proud Bahamian patriot – and my friend A tribute to the life of the late Hon. Dr. Bernard Jonathan Nottage by Allyson Maynard-Gibson

“Reach out and touch somebody’s hand – make this world a better place if you can”. I have seen the late Honourable Dr. B.J. Nottage hold an elderly woman’s hand and sing her a song. Her demeanour completely changed. BJ, as he was affectionately called by all wanted to and did leave this world a better place.

BJ was an extraordinary human being and a very proud Bahamian patriot and nation builder, whose life exemplifies the Bahamian capacity to rise from humble beginnings to attain the highest heights – which is what he did in his all of his fields of endeavor.
