The Legacy of Cleophas Adderley
I was in Grenada with
other colleagues for the Caricom Heads of Government Conference when we
learned of the passing of Cleophas Adderley. We were all deeply saddened
because we have lost a brilliant and beloved native son who contributed
so much to our country, the region and the world.

Cabinet Office on the Funeral for Dr. Bernard Nottage

The Cabinet Office announces that an Official funeral will be held for
the late Bernard J. Nottage, former Minister of National Security and
Member of Parliament for Bain and Grants Town on Friday 14 July at
11:00in the morning at St. Agnes Church.
Dr.Nottage passed away on Wednesday 28 June in a Florida hospital where
he was airlifted after spending 3 days in the Intensive Care Unit of
Doctor’s Hospital.Throughout this period, Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Hubert
Minnis was in close and frequent contact with Mrs. Portia Nottage, wife
of Bernard Nottage.

R. E. Adderley a distinguished and charismatic scholar and cultural

unique and iconic cultural character who dedicated his life to music and

He was a pioneer in Sports in The Bahamas and will always be remembered
for his administrative skills and competitive attitude. He represented

family and friends of Dr. the Honourable Bernard “BJ” Nottage, a former
Minister of Health in the Government of The Bahamas. This great Bahamian
ended his earthly pilgrimage Wednesday 28th June, 2017. I offer my
prayers and support to his wife Portia and his sons, and I know that
fellow physicians and the entire medical community are indeed saddened
by this loss.

Mr. Alexander Thompson passed away on 31st May 2017 at
10:24am. Mr. Thompson was National Hero of Labour in The
Bahamas. Funeral service arrangements are being made.
Thompson was born on the island of Andros, in the settlement of
Stanyard Creek. As a little boy in Andros, he worked with the mail boat
collecting the mailbag and delivering groceries. Always seeking ways to
assist, he performed odd jobs around the church and the neighborhood...

Freeport, Grand Bahama - Full Military Service for the late retired Police Sergeant 1163 Donna
Burrows will take place on Friday, November 18, 2016 at the Church of
The Ascension in Lucaya, Grand Bahama. Ms. Burrows joined the Police
Force in 1970 and retired in January of 2009 after serving thirty-three
years. Her body reposed in the Compstat Room of the Gerald Bartlett
Police Complex on Thursday for viewing. Among those paying respect was
the Minister for National Security, the Hon. Dr. Bernard Nottage,

I am truly saddened this morning at the death of
Vernon Curtis, a great civic leader, activist, businessman and community
organizer from Exuma. He will truly be missed.
Mr Curtis was of that
generation of Exuma who fought for independence, majority rule and
Bahamianization. He was Exuma's eminence grise and protector of its
history, it's traditions and it's reputation. He leaves a great legacy.
He was a supporter of the cause and helped to elect and counsel many
an MP. I am grateful for his life of service, for his friendship and for
his wise counsel and total dedication to Exuma and the Bahamas.

Press Club mourns passing of noted photographer Antoine Ferrier

NASSAU, The Bahamas – The Bahamas Press Club is deeply saddened by the
death of noted photographer Antoine Ferrier, who passed away Sunday,
November 6, 2016 after short illness.
He died at the Princess Margaret Hospital, on his birthday, at the age of 75.
Club President Anthony Newbold described Mr. Ferrier as a professional
and a gentleman who brought honour to the profession.
Mr. Ferrier was appointed as one of the esteemed judges for the Press Club Media Awards scheduled for November 19, 2016...

Jeffrey Bernard Butler, Sr was the Owner & CEO of The Butler Group
of Companies. In his role, Jeff coordinated and managed the importation
and buying side of the companies while overseeing the corporate and
expansion aspects of the companies. He owned and operated local
favourite spots, Butler's Specialty Food Store, Harbour Lobster,
Shenanigans, Chicagos, and the Harbour Room.
