Nassau, Bahamas - The next Bahamas Historical Society talk will be held on Thursday, May 26th at 6:00pm and will feature The History of The Bahamas as a Member State of the United Nations with Davidson Hepburn.

Hepburn was born at Douds, a settlement in New Bight, Cat Island, and after completing his early education, he continued his studies in the United States where he received the B.A. and M.A. degrees.He holds a Ph.D in Comparative Language and Literature from the University of Madrid and a Diploma in International Relations from Switzerland.

Among the many awards he has received are
- Chevalier of the French Legion of Honour;
- Rotary Paul Harris award;
- O.B.E. from Her Majesty the Queen.

He served as Chairman of GGYA, AAMC and is Co-Patron of the Primary School Programme, and served for many years as Ambassador of Bahamas to the United Nations and later as President of the 35th Session of the UNESCO Conference from 2009-2011. He is the husband of Dr. Ada Thompson. He has one son and two lovely grandchildren.


The Bahamas Historical Society (BHS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to stimulating interest in Bahamian History and to the collection and preservation of material relating thereto. Its Headquarters, the former IODE Hall, was a gift from the Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire (IODE). BHS is on Shirley Street and Elizabeth Avenue in Nassau.
