The Bahamas is home
to Brides Magazine 2011 top Caribbean Resort as Sandals Emerald Bay in
Exuma is named the Caribbean’s number one resort for honeymoons, just
one month after celebrating its first anniversary.
The award was based on a survey conducted by Signature Travel Network’s
6,000 A listed travel agents across North America and Brides Magazine,
the world’s oldest and most widely read wedding magazine with readership
of over 6.5 million per issue.
The Bahamas not only made the list for Sandals Emerald Bay Resort but
Atlantis’ One & Only Ocean Club in Paradise Island which was also
featured on the list of top Caribbean resorts for honeymooners.
The announcement came as Brides Magazine celebrates what its calling
“the world's hottest islands, resorts, cities, hotels, and hideaways” in its March 2011 Issue, which has been on newsstands across the world for almost three weeks.
The recognitions clearly demonstrate why the leading bridal publication has also named the the Bahamas amongst
“The World's Top Honeymoon Destination” at #9 on the listing of Top 10. As the Bahamas is only country to have two resorts making this prestigious list.
Commenting on the award Freda Madrisotti, Director Weddings and Honeymoon at The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism said

for this market. Given the economic performance for the past couple
years and the outlook for the future,The Islands of The Bahamas
recognizes the importance of remaining relevant and competitive through
various marketing platforms; our goal is to deliver the kinds of
experiences that would compel our special guests to tell friends and
family members that 'It Is Better In The Bahamas'."
In addition to naming Sandals Emerald Bay the Caribbean’s top honeymoon
resort, Brides Magazine also awarded Sandals Resorts International as
the top all-inclusive company.
And Sandals response from its founder Gordon 'Butch' Stewart, speaking to the Jamaica Observer,
“we are simply humbled by the result of this survey, which demonstrates
the continued success of our luxury included concept," he goes on to
say "weddings and honeymoons are a core market for our organization, and
this award represents the pinnacle of achievement in the business of
romance. It is even more special now because this year we celebrate the
30th anniversary of Sandals. The award could not come at a better time."
Mr Stuart continued,

that we deliver," and added Stewart "To be recognized by the number one
bridal publication in the world is a true endorsement of the strength of
our brand.”
