Classic Italian driving shoes now offered in canary yellow, orange and cobalt is part of a new dramatic color renaissance with men’s fashions this summer.

As men have begun to embrace more color, one of the best ways to add a touch of vivid boldness to your look is with summer footwear.

Driving shoes as the name suggest were originally made for race car drivers back in the early 1900’s.

Credit those early Italian drivers who ditched their chunky shoes for a stylist flexible shoe for better control when accelerating.

A true driving shoe has small nubs on the bottom to help distribute the weight across the peddle for more comfort during long automobile races.

Originally, Italian driving shoes were very expensive as they were only available from luxury brands such as Gucci.

They became mainstream when Tod’s introduced the hand made leather Gommini, named after the 133 peddles embedded into the rubber sole which made for a very comfortable, light and stylist footwear.

Tod’s newest summer collection is squared toe-shaped, with a raw-cut leather lace tie and comes in several bright colors.

Other styles include the slip-on Macassino with its loafer strap, another Gommino variant with a double-strip strap – the Fascia Stripe, and the Gommino Mocassino Bespoke, available exclusively at Tod’s stores.

Selected models are available in fine leather and suede, select a dazzling color and wear them casually with shorts or chinos or a darker pair for a more formal setting.

One rule with driving shoes is that they are worn without socks, for added comfort use invisible socks that just cover your toes to the back of your heel.

Women do judge a man’s personal taste by his shoes, so pick up a pair of colorful driving shoes and lets show them how stylist we can be this summer.
