Dunhill eight button blazer for spring summer 2015

Alfred Dunhill began his business in the late 19th century selling motoring accessories such as leather over coats and goggles for the first drivers of automobiles, so it is exciting to see the brand rejuvenated at London Collections: Men last June with newly appointed creative director John Ray as he unveils his first spring summer 2015 collection.

Formally with Gucci, John Ray was given the chance to be “British and international” which was an opportunity he could not turn down.

With this collection designer John Ray has moved away from the slim European mens look and gave us a more traditional cut with interesting details such as an eight button blazer which elongates one’s stature.

I admire the use exquisite light weight suit fabrics in white, royal blue and military green to create single button jackets that gives an air of aristocratic London from the past.

Elegant tropical feel

On the casual side, the colored botanical prints of fern and magnolia shirts and shorts are my favorite pieces.

Combined with a soft taupe colored dinner jackets or a light weight summer jacket from the collection, its one of the best tropical looks for warm weather days.

John Ray has been able to capture the heritage of Dunhill while making the label relevant to a new generation of men who appreciate old world elegance and style.

With talk of a new men’s shop in London opening soon, I am sure both men and women look forward to the return of Dunhill to the British fashion scene.
