Gucci Cruise 2016 collection – hollywoodlife.com

Gucci’s Cruise 2016 collection takes
us back to a vintage era filled with rich colors and fine embellishments, reminding me of one of my favorite memories, young playful Italian
women flirting in front of the Trevi Fountain in Rome.
While only at the helm of Gucci for a few months, this was creative director Alessandro Michele’s second
collection for the label. He was previously their head accessories designer.
This cruise collection is very
girlish, filled with librarian-style pleated skirts and tailored suits that run from ladylike to racy. Added are glorious ruffled and embroidered gowns for evening
wear.
There are exquisite floral patterns
and sharp geometrics, not overly glamorous or sexy, as with past collections.
It all comes with an explosive mix of
colour and fine embellishments on fabrics. Including tigers, insects and nature images,
combined with fine fabrics and lace.
This Cruise 2016 collection
represents a whole new fashion direction for Gucci. Some call it modern vintage
with an interesting mix of quirky chic. Others have found it awkward.
Appealing to a younger and more
spirited woman,we shall see if this new fashion direction holds
successful for Gucci.
