No One Buys at Christmas Time

Conventional wisdom says that the holiday season is the worst time to try to sell (or buy) a home and especially this Christmas with the state of the world wide economy. Conventional wisdom is wrong in the case of real estate. While home sales usually slow during the holidays they certainly do not stop. There are still buyers out there even in the middle of this economic crisis because buyers with cash or credit know this is a good time to buy as sellers are very very flexible and want to make a deal ! The market has not stopped but it is of course a buyers market and buyers want good deals. There have been changes in the world this is true BUT if you are selling a home don’t think that your home is off the market for the holidays. During this period it is not at all unusual for transactions to take place and they will.

So you may ask …..Who buys homes during this period? The answer is Buyers, not lookers! These buyers tend to be without children and looking to make their move before the New Year. This is especially good news for sellers of high-end market homes. Buyers during this period include people moving from other countries to take advantage of our tax free status or start new jobs in Freeport. Also very busy, successful people that have no other time to look for their second home tend to be good candidates to make decisions before New Years. Believe it or not there are many people who are not involved in the holiday rush, and there are those who are simply in a holiday mood and want to take advantage of this time to buy real estate. Many businesses close for the holidays whish means that there is more time to focus on real estate investments.

So don’t think the holiday season spells the end of the home-selling season even based on current economic conditions. – the most wonderful holiday gift of all may be THE DEED TO A NEW HOME OR A SALE OF YOUR PROPERTY!

From all of us at James Sarles Realty we wish you a Happy Holiday Selling Season.
