Rights Bahamas has been made aware of a recently released viral video of a police officer with the Royal Bahamas Police Force physically assaulting a man that had been accused of loitering in a public place. The video starts with shaky footage of the side-walk as the officer can be seen communicating with an alleged tourist on vacation. As the gentleman is given his passport, he pulls it quickly out of the officer’s hands, and is then slapped in the face by the officer...

Commodore Tellis Bethel along with the Officers and Marines of  the Royal Bahamas Defence Force joined the world in commemorating veterans of World Wars I and II on  Remembrance Day. Instituted by King George V in 1919 in honour of these men and women, Remembrance Day is recognized by Great Britain, her overseas territories, allies and former colonies.

This year’s ceremony also marked the culmination of many activities that members of the British Legion-Bahamas Branch (BLBB) showcased this year in commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the ending of World War 1 on 11th November 1918...

Coral Harbour Base - The Royal Bahamas Defence Force Auxiliary vessel, HMBS Lawrence Major, departed  Coral Harbour Base this afternoon to transport equipment and materials for the installation of a Meteorological Doppler radar in Long Island on behalf of The Bahamas Meteorological Department.

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force is warning boaters to stay clear of an unidentified floating container unit found in waters off Farmer's Cay in the Exuma chain.

The estimated 20 feet x 40 feet metal container is currently located at position: Latitude: 23.57 North and Longitude 076.11 West (Farmer's Cay Cut). The residents of Farmer's Cay had anchored the container unit and have also placed a light on it to enhance its visibility after dark...

Search and Rescue teams from Nassau Airport Development Company, Bahamas Airport Authority, the Royal Bahamas Police Force Fire Services, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Harbour Patrol Unit, the United States Coast Guard, and BASRA were dispatched to the north shore of New Providence in search of a light aircraft that crashed in waters off Nirvana Beach late night on Thursday 8 November 2018.

The six seater Aztec aircraft was later spotted by Defence Force patrol crews shortly after 10:00 p.m.  just before sinking in waters half mile offshore...

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) is escorting three "motherships" with 124 fishermen from the Dominican Republic to the capital after they were turned over to the Defence Force by the Cuban Border Patrol earlier today. 

The Dominicans had illegally entered Cuban waters after being pursued by the Defence Force for illegally fishing in Bahamian waters.  The apprehension was the result of a collaborative effort by the Royal Bahamas Defence Force with the United States Coast Guard and the Cuban Border Patrol over the past several days...

Two American citizens are in Police custody after they were found in possession of suspected drugs and weapons by members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Marines on Friday afternoon.

While on patrol shortly after 12:00 pm, Patrol craft P-115, coxswained by Leading Seaman William Burns conducted a routine boarding and search of a blue and white Contender in the area of Nassau Harbour east. Results of the search uncovered a small quantity of suspected marijuana onboard. Further search of the vessel also uncovered 2 pistols, 1 shotgun and a total of 262 rounds of ammunition...
