The only thing hotter than the performances at the Grammy’s are the
outfits. Attracting music’s creme de la creme, the red carpet at the
Grammy’s has more personality and risk taking than award shows geared
toward the worlds f film and television. Here’s a wrap-up of what the
biggest stars wore on music’s biggest night.
All That Glitters
Sequin
frocks ruled the red carpet at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards. Kim
Kardashian, Heidi Klum and LeAnn Rimes donned liquid gold gowns, modern
takes on the flashy gold numbers worn by soul singers in the 70’s.
Janelle
Monae added a subtle twist to her typical uniform of a sleek tuxedo
with a sequin one button blazer paired with high-waisted satin trousers
and a western string tie.
Mirror mirror the the wall, who’s the
fairest of them all - Jennifer Lopez in a V-neck, long sleeve silver
mini dress with reflective pieces all over. Not exactly age appropriate
but still flaming hot, JLo looked just as awesome as she did in her hay
day as a pop star.
Animal Instincts
If her goal was
to make jaws drop, spark facebook and twitter wars and make every worst
dressed list imaginable then Nicki Minaj was successful. Her leopard
print look, complete with a platinum blonde afro was most definitely the
worst look of the evening.
Miley Cyrus on the other hand, got
animal print oh-so-right. Wearing a playful black, silver and gold zebra
print sequin gown she looked sexy and still managed to look youthful in
an animal print.
Frothy Frocks
Feminine
silhouettes and soft pastel hues popped up on stars including E!
television’s fashion consultant Kelly Osbourne and singers Natasha
Bedingfield and Ciara.
Pop star Rhianna looked as though a fifth
grader designed her dress out of white plastic leis. Poofy horizontal
stripes covered a nude base. Unflattering hair and makeup made the look
even more tacky. Rhianna’s one of my favorites, but her Grammy attire
was utterly disappointing.
All Black Everything
Rythym
and blues songstress Monica donned an all black, backless, ankle length
gown with a mermaid silhouette and a long train. An unflattering boxed
neckline, exaggerated shoulders and short tight sleeves made the dress
look awkward and uncomfortable.
Glee star Lea Michele looked
divine in a deep v-neck gown complete with ruffles, an asymmetrical
hemline and train. The dress had a sultry latin flair and a lace insert
at the midriff dialed up the sultry factor even more. Simple tousled
locks, minimal jewelry and magenta lips complemented the look perfectly.
When
you’ve fashioned an awards show gown out of raw meat, how do you top
yourself? Showing up on the red carpet in a pod carried by your minions
is a viable option. Lady Gaga emerged from her pod donning pointed
shoulder prosthetics, a black leather strap bandeau top, barely there
bottoms, thigh high boots and a hat that completely covered her face.
I’m not a fan of Lady Gaga’s fashion, nor do I consider her a
fashionista but she is entertaining!
